Meet Mark Hinton

As a life-long Hoosier and father of a daughter in high school, I have grown deeply concerned about the future of politics in Indiana.  Instead of complaining about it from the sidelines, I have decided to step up and run for office.

I do not want my daughter to grow up in a state where she is not paid as much as her male counterparts for the same work.

I want her to graduate from a state that offers the very best education, not one that fails to invest in future generations. I don’t want my daughter to graduate from college so indebted that she’ll never be able to pay it off.

I want my child to grow up in a state where her job opportunities are competitive with the rest of the country.  I want her to live in a state that values her healthcare and that of her child.  I want her children to grow up in a state that values clean water and air.  And I want the same for all Hoosier families.

I will bring a new and fresh perspective to government. I will protect the interests of citizens and not lobbyists.  I pledge to work for the people of District 39, not to any lobbyist or corporate interest, and I will not accept personal gifts or dinners from lobbyists.

Funding public education will be one of my top priorities in the State House.

In wake of Trump's withdrawal from Paris climate accord, small-town USA says 'we are still in'

I want to commend the City of Carmel for taking the initiative to be a municipal leader in Indiana on tackling gas emissions as well as their continued leadership on improving our city’s environment for its residents.

More Americans dying at home rather than in hospitals

We need to make sure those who want to stay at home and receive hospice care services and/or end of life care are able to. To allow the flexibility of our seniors or those with chronic illnesses to spend that time surrounded by loved ones and friends at home. We can do it and make sure our seniors receive the services they need in the space they call home.

First-of-its-kind program to provide free solar installations for low-income homes in 2020

I look forward to the results of this innovative program to reduce the cost barriers of homeowners to invest in renewable energy and save money on their energy bill. We as a state need to make it easier for homeowners and businesses to transition and invest in solar. Thanks to Solar United Neighbors for being leaders on this project as well as Indianapolis. We as Hoosiers can be the leader in the solar industry.

Hoosier mothers die in child birth at same rate as women in the Gaza Strip: Help us find out why

We need to urgently improve women's health care for our new mothers and their children. As the father of sophomore in high school, I want to make sure she gets the highest possible care in order to ensure she and her children can thrive in our great state.
